Prostate Forum - Lecture by: Dr. Bob

Jerry, myself, and Aunt Betty attended the Prostate Forum lecture, last night, in Fullerton, CA. Dr. "Bob" (Jerry's oncologist) was the guest speaker at the 15 year Anniversary celebration of the Prostate Forum. Dr. Bob is well known with this group and spoke on Advanced Prostate Cancer. Dr. Bob has posted his presentation, along with many other interesting publications on prostate cancer, at his website. I am including the link to the presentation for your reading enjoyment... Since Dr. Bob was limited to 2 hours, he did modify this presentation due to time constraints. The link includes a much more information then what he was able to share with the group last night.

Ostenecrosis - foul smell

I wanted to let you know that recently I started to smell that foul smell (similar to last summer) about Jerry. I first noticed it last Sunday (03/18/07). Jerry got into the car to drive to Church, and I could smell that foul odor. Throughout the week, I did not smell it again, until Sunday (03/25/07). Again, we were driving to church. After church we were having lunch and Jerry needed to blow his nose. When he did, it was a disgusting smell, It was so bad I had to leave the room. Jerry told me that he couldn't smell it, but he did say during the week, he smelt it. He also mentioned, during the week he saw some yellowish stuff coming out of his nose when he blew his nose, but wasn't seeing it recently. Prior to leaving for our Hawaii vacation (February), Jerry was on antibiotics, but maybe he's getting another bacterial infection in his sinus cavity because of the Ostenecrosis (ONJ)? Jerry's doctor is prescribing another antibiodic, for this infection. The doctor also mentioned that we may need to get another x-ray of his sinus again, as well.

ROD STEWART IN CONCERT

March 22, 2007... Jerry, myself, along with our long time friends, Ralph and Mary Quigley (Jerry and Ralph have worked for various employers together for over 30 years) enjoying Rod Stewart in Concert at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Jerry and I had seen him last year, and really enjoyed the concert. But, this year was even better than last year. It was a great concert and I wanted to share some pictures I took during the concert.
Hope you all enjoyed the pictures.

ONCOLOGIST APPOINTMENT continued...

Seems like this last appointment is been a little rough. Since my last update, Jerry still is not feeling as well as he has in the past (after his appointment). On Sunday he didn't seem to have the energy he usually does on a Sunday afternoon that is a warm, sunny day. Jerry told me that he had woke up this morning with a wet tee-shirt (which he slept in). Sunday night when I kissed him goodnight, I noticed he was very warm. I asked him if he was feeling okay and he said he was. But, on Monday he told me that he didn't get much sleep during the night. Last night I noticed he looked very pale. Again, I asked him how he was feeling and again he said okay, but his tummy was a little shaky.

ONCOLOGIST APPOINTMENT

While Jerry and I were in Hawaii, Justice and Harmony helped Jerry give his injections.

Jerry had his monthly scheduled oncologist appointment, today. Once Jerry arrived home he seemed okay. Jerry had told me that they increased his dosage of Avastin, this time. Later on (about 10:00pm) he staggered into the bedroom (as if he were drunk). I was concerned he would fall and get hurt. I told him he would need to wake me up during the night so I could help him, if he needed to get out of bed. Once he fell asleep he was moaning and groaning, as well as, snoring. Once during the night he was moaning and was shaking his legs. I couldn't sleep because I was afraid for Jerry. I got up during the middle of the night, got on the computer and went to the Avastin website (link below). I notice some side effects can be fatal, however, I don't really understand the terminology the use. But, I wanted to make sure Jerry wasn't having any adverse reactions and in need of medical attention. He seemed okay the rest of the night, but of course I didn't get much sleep myself. http://www.gene.com/gene/products/information/pdf/avastin-prescribing.pdf
Jerry's PSA is: 3.74. It seems to be creaping up as the rest of him seems to be breaking down.
Yesterday (03/08/07) Dr. Gorbaty contacted Jerry and called in another injection for Jerry to use every night. This is suppose to increase his immune system. (see information on the web site link attached below)
